Screencastify can automatically generate captions when you share your videos, making your content more accessible to viewers.
Automatic captions are enabled by default for Pro users and can be turned on or off in your account settings.
Turn Automatic Captions On or Off
- Sign in to your Screencastify account.
- Navigate to Profile > Settings.
- Locate the Auto-Captions setting.
- Toggle the setting On or Off based on your preference.
When Are Captions Automatically Generated?
When enabled, automatic captions are triggered by the following sharing actions:
- Copying a video share link
- Inviting people to access your video
- Sharing through integrated apps
- Moving a video into a shared folder
Note: Videos without audio or speech will not receive automatic captions.
Automatic Caption Availability
- Pro users: Automatic captions are included and enabled by default.
- Free and Starter users: An upgrade is required to access automatic captions.
- Student accounts: Availability may be restricted by your school administrator's AI Tools settings.
If captions aren't being generated, check that the feature is enabled, your subscription supports it, and your video contains audio or speech.
