Question: How do I export my recording?
Answer: You can export your recording from the Video Management Page in several different file types.
There are four different file types you can export videos as:
NOTE: Viewer analytics and interactive questions will not export. These features are only available on the watch page.
Export as .webm file
A WebM file is an open source, high quality video format. WebM videos are compatible with most major browsers as well as with some video players like VLC.
- Click on the video you would like to export from the My Videos Library
- On the Video Management page, select the "Export Video" drop-down menu
- Select "Download Drive File"
- A new window will open the .webm file from Drive
- From there, click on the 'Download' arrow to download the .webm file of your video
Export as MP4
NOTE: You must save your recordings on Google Drive to enable MP4 export.
- Click on the video you would like to export from the My Videos Library
- On the Video Management page, select the "Export Video" drop-down menu
- Select "Export as MP4"
- In the pop-up, select 'Export'
- You will see an export box pop up in the lower right-hand corner showing the progress of the export
- Once the export is complete, you will see a green arrow that will allow you to download the MP4. Click that green arrow to download.
Export audio MP3
NOTE: You must save your recordings on Google Drive to enable MP3 export.
- Click on the video you would like to export from the My Videos Library
- On the Video Management page, select the "Export Video" drop-down menu
- Select "Export as MP3"
- You will see an export progress box open on the bottom right
- Once the export is complete, you will see a green arrow appear in that box
- Click on the green arrow to download your MP3
Export as GIF
NOTE: The GIF format is meant for short animations. Screencastify may fail to export a long recordings as a GIF. Learn more here.
- Click on the video you would like to export from the My Videos Library
- On the Video Management page, select the "Export Video" drop-down menu
- Select "Export as GIF"
- In the pop-up, select 'Export'
- You will see an export progress box pop up in the bottom right-hand corner
- Once the export is complete, a green arrow will appear
- Click the green arrow to download your GIF
