When you install and set up the Screencastify extension, we ask for two Chrome permissions. These permissions are not required in order to use Screencastify, but some features may not be available to you if you do not grant them.
Below are the permissions we ask for and why.
- Microphone and webcam access. We ask for this permission so you can include the audio coming from your microphone in your recordings and/or embed your webcam. We never access or enable your microphone or webcam at any other time or for any other purpose.
- The ability to "read and change all your data on the websites your visit". We ask for this permission in order to embed our annotation tools and webcam into your current Chrome tab. Screencastify never monitors, stores or tracks your browsing information.
If you have any questions about how we handle and protect your data, please refer to our privacy policy or contact us at privacy@screencastify.com.
