Overview
The Screencastify MCP Connector allows supported AI assistants to securely work with information from your Screencastify account.
You can ask your AI assistant to find videos, explore your content, review performance, create playlists, and organize your library without manually searching through your Screencastify account.
The connector operates using your Screencastify access. Your AI assistant can only see or change content that your Screencastify account has permission to access.
The CTO's overview describes the intended experience as connecting the user's video library with AI capabilities to analyze, organize, and work with video information such as views, quiz completion, comments, and topics.
- Find and explore your content
- Understand video performance
- Build playlists

Find and explore your content
- Videos
- Folders
- Assignments
- Submit submissions
You can narrow searches using information such as keywords, owners, folders, captions, or whether a video contains a quiz.
Try asking:
Show me all my videos about Customer Acme.
Which videos did I create this year?
List the video submissions I've received this week.
Find my longest videos. Are any over 10 minutes?
Understand video performance
- Total views
- Unique viewers
- Average completion
- Average quiz score
You can also ask your AI assistant to identify your highest or lowest performing videos based on views, completion, or quiz performance.
For videos containing quizzes, the connector can rank people who responded based on their scores. Anonymous responses are excluded.
Try asking:
Which of my videos have the most views, and what do they have in common?
How are students doing on the quiz in my fractions video?
Compare engagement between my videos.
Build playlists
You can ask your AI assistant to identify and organize groups of related videos into playlists.
For example:
Make a playlist of all my product weekly meetings in order.
Build a playlist for the cell biology unit, under 30 minutes total.
Create a beginner-to-advanced playlist from my Spanish verb videos.
This can be useful for organizing training, onboarding, lessons, or other groups of related content.
Organize your video library
The connector can also help organize videos you own.
You can ask your AI assistant to:
- Create folders
- Rename folders
- Move folders
- Move videos you own into folders
For example:
Organize all my videos into folders by department.
Put my tutorial videos in their own folder.
Which videos aren't in a folder yet? Suggest where they should go.
What can the connector change?
Most Screencastify MCP tools are read-only.
The folder-management tools are the exception. They can create or update folders and move videos that you own.
The connector does not delete your content.
Use Screencastify with other connected tools
If your AI assistant also has access to other apps, you can combine Screencastify information with those tools.
Write a Gmail draft to my team with a playlist for onboarding.
Draft a customer email with links to this week's highlight videos.
Make a Google Doc listing my videos by unit with links.
Add my top five videos to my lesson plan doc.
Availability of these actions depends on the other tools and services you've connected to your AI assistant.
What information can the connector access?
The connector can identify the Screencastify account you're using, including your:
- Name
- Email address
- Organizations
- Role within each organization
It can also search supported Screencastify content and retrieve supported video analytics.
The connector operates as you, meaning its access is limited by the permissions associated with your Screencastify account.
Getting started
Once you've connected Screencastify to your AI assistant, a simple place to start is:
