The Video Editor gives you more control over your video's audio. You can separate audio from your recording, record a new voiceover, and upload audio such as background music—all directly within the Editor.
Detach audio from your video
Want to edit your video's audio without changing the video itself? You can detach the audio and edit it separately.
- Select the video clip in your timeline.
- Click Detach Audio.
- Your audio will appear in a separate lane in the timeline.
Once detached, you can split, delete, or move sections of the audio independently. For example, you can remove part of the original audio and replace it with a new voiceover. Visit this article to learn how to record a voiceover: Record a voiceover
Add background music or other audio
You can also upload an audio file to your video.
- Open Audio in the Editor.
- Click Upload Audio.
- Select the audio file you'd like to add.
- Once uploaded, the audio will appear as a track in your timeline.
- Drag the audio track to position it where you'd like it to play.
You may adjust the volume after adding an audio track. Check out this article for a quick guide: How do I adjust the volume of my audio?
Tips: If you're adding background music, lowering its volume can help keep your narration or original video audio clear and easy to hear. Before saving your changes, play your video back to make sure your original audio, voiceover, and uploaded audio are positioned and balanced the way you want them.
