Title: Novel Reflection Project (ELA 9-12)
Instructions: "Sometimes, you have to look back in order to understand the things that lie ahead." - Yvonne Woon
Being able to reflect upon one's craft is essential to our growth as writers. One way to do so is by comparison. This project will be completed by the end of the semester. It is our final project. We will present the last week of the semester.
1. Start by finding a book that is listed on the Lincoln Books Award Winners: https://bit.ly/LincolnBooks
2. Read it. As you read, make notes on diction, detail, figurative language and imagery, and tone. Take pictures of the pages/examples OR write them down in your notebook with a proper citation.
3. Compare your VOICE as a writer to your author's based on 3 of the above areas. Use specific examples as points of comparison.
**Note: It is okay if you and your author are different. Sometimes contrast is more instructive than a similarity.**
4. Create a presentation that explains the overall comparison of your voices (including the 3 areas of your choice.) Explain your reasoning through a video walkthrough.
Recording Type: Screen and microphone
