We’re proud to offer Screencastify Free, a plan that’s perfect for creators who are new to video and just getting started on their journey with video communication. Our Free plan offers access to much of the power of the Screencastify platform, with the ability to record and edit videos up to 30 minutes in length and to store 10 videos in your Screencastify library.
Video Limit Countdown
There is a video counter element in the extension pop-up, Video Management Page, and My Videos.

How many videos can I record for free?
The free Screencastify plan allows you to record as many videos (up to 30 minutes in length each) as you’d like, and store up to 10 of those videos in your Screencastify library.
What if I reach my video limit?
After you have reached your 10-video library limit, you will need to either upgrade to our Starter or Pro plans or remove videos from your library to continue video creation.

Delete videos from your 'My Videos' page
Recommended if: You want to delete videos one by one.
Note:
- Remember that deleting video(s) from your 'My Videos' page will also delete the video from your Google Drive. This can not be undone so if you want to save your video(s) before deleting, please export it first! 😺
- See below if you'd like to learn more on how to export your videos before deleting.
If you're not quite ready to upgrade but wish to keep making videos, you can delete some from your videos in your 'My Videos' library to make room!
- Go to your 'My Videos' page
- Click the 3 dots on the lower right hand corner of the video you wish to delete
- Click 'Delete'
- You will then be asked to confirm if you want to delete the video. Either select 'Never mind' or 'Yes, Delete'.
Bulk delete videos from your Google Drive
Recommended if: You want to bulk/mass delete your videos.
Note:
- This can not be undone so if you want to save your video(s) before deleting, please export it first! 😺
- See below if you'd like to learn more on how to export your videos before deleting.
- Go to your Google Drive’s 'Screencastify' folder.
- Select the videos you’d like to delete. You can select multiple videos or all videos at once by following the steps below:
- To select multiple, non-consecutive videos, hold down command (Mac) or control (Windows/Chromebook/Linux) while clicking the videos you want to delete.
- To select a group of consecutive videos (or all videos), click the first video you want to delete. Then hold down shift and click the last video. This will select all videos between the first and last videos clicked.
- Click the trash icon at the top right of your Drive to delete the selected videos.
- Click “Move to Trash”.
- Go to your 'My Videos' page and click the “Sync Videos” link at the bottom of the page.
- You should start to see these deleted videos being removed from the page after a few seconds.
Bulk Export Videos from your Google Drive
Recommended if: You want to save your videos and create storage in your 'My Videos' library to less than 10
Note:
- Bulk exporting your videos from Google Drive does not remove videos from your 'My Videos' library. You will still need to delete your videos manually. The following options allow you to save a copy of your videos before deleting them.
- Any videos that are removed from your Screencastify Library will lose any Interactive Questions, Captions and Viewer Analytics that you’ve added on the Screencastify platform.
To bulk export your videos without saving them in Google Drive (i.e., Flash Drive, Desktop):
- Go to your Google Drive’s 'Screencastify' folder.
- Select the videos you’d like to export. You can select multiple videos or all videos at once by following the steps below:
- To select multiple, non-consecutive videos, hold down command (Mac) or control (Windows/Chromebook/Linux) while clicking the videos you want to export.
- To select a group of consecutive videos (or all videos), click the first video you want to export. Then hold down shift and click the last video. This will select all videos between the first and last videos clicked.
- Right click and select 'Download'.
- Your videos will be saved as a zip file.
- Open the zip folder to access the individual videos, saved as WebM.
- Once your videos are saved, go to your 'My Videos' page
- Click the 3 dots on the lower right hand corner of the video you wish to delete
- Click 'Delete'
- You will then be asked to confirm if you want to delete the video. Either select 'Never mind' or 'Yes, Delete'.
To bulk export your videos and save them to Google Drive:
- Go to your Google Drive’s Screencastify folder.
- Select the videos you’d like to export. You can select multiple videos or all videos at once by following the steps below:
- To select multiple, non-consecutive videos, hold down command (Mac) or control (Windows/Chromebook/Linux) while clicking the videos you want to export.
- To select a group of consecutive videos (or all videos), click the first video you want to export. Then hold down shift and click the last video. This will select all videos between the first and last videos clicked.
- Right click and select "Download".
- Your videos will be saved as a zip file.
- Drag the zipped file to 'My Drive'
- Once your videos are saved in 'My Drive' and completed, a pop-up notice at the bottom right corner will note "1 upload completed". Click the folder icon to open the folder.
- Once the folder is open, select "Open with ZIP Extractor" (top, center).
- You will get rerouted to zipextractor.app
- Select 'Extract to Drive'
- Select 'View Files in Drive'
- Tip: You can rename the folder
- Once your videos are saved, go to your 'My Videos' page
- Click the 3 dots on the lower right hand corner of the video you wish to delete
- Click 'Delete'
- You will then be asked to confirm if you want to delete the video. Either select 'Never mind' or 'Yes, Delete'.
Troubleshooting Tip
You may notice, when trying to delete your videos, they are not automatically removed or the number of videos is incorrect. If this occurs, you may be experiencing a syncing issue. Please follow the steps below to resync your videos between Google Drive and Screencastify.
- Go to My Videos
- Scroll to the bottom and click 'Sync Videos':
- After a few seconds, you should start to see these videos being removed from the My Videos page
Upgrade your Subscription
If you'd like to continue making videos but don't wish to delete any ones you've made then you can upgrade your subscription to Screencastify Starter or Pro!
