There are a three different ways using Screencastify and your computer to record your audio. π
Microphone Audio:
Microphone audio is the sound that your computer's built-in microphone captures during your recording.
β¨ Click on () next to the puzzle piece
β¨ Choose whether you'd prefer a Browser Tab, Desktop, or Webcam only recording.
β¨ Next, you will need to turn the grey toggle next to 'Microphone' to pink:
PRO TIP
Only record your voice with microphone audio. Use microphone audio when narrating over your recording. π
Tab Audio:
Tab audio is any sound that occurs from within your browser tab (like a YouTube video) and plays on your computer's speakers. Tab audio is only available when you record your browser tab.

β¨ Click on the grey 'Browser Tab' button to turn it pink
β¨ Click on 'show more options'
β¨ Next, you will need to turn the grey toggle next to 'Tab Audio' to pink:
PRO TIP
If you want to record tab audio AND narrate over your recording, we recommend using headphones so your audio won't echo.
System Audio:
System audio refers to all the audio originating from any of your computer's programs (not just a browser tab).
IMPORTANT PRO TIP
- System audio is currently available for desktop recordings on Windows machines and Chromebooks ONLY.
- Due to system limitations imposed by Apple, it's impossible to record system audio on Macs. π You can still record your tab audio on a Mac however. π

REMINDER
- You won't have 'system audio' to toggle if you are on a Mac.
