At this time, the ability to rotate your browser tab or webcam is not supported. We understand that being able to rotate your video from landscape to portrait & vice versa or have the ability to resize your videos would greatly enhance your experience with Screencastify.
Our engineering and product teams are currently researching how to make this feature possible in the future. If you'd like, please fill out this form to give our teams a little more insight.
However, here are a few alternative ways that you can customize your videos other than rotating.
Mirroring your webcam
You can mirror your embedded webcam by hovering over your webcam pop up (the rectangle video of yourself) and clicking on the button! Each time you click on it, this will flip your webcam back and forth to your liking.
Resizing your browser tab
You can also resize your browser tab so that it matches common video aspect ratios. This is helpful if you want your video to be the exact same dimensions as other videos that you will be editing together with your recording. It's also recommended if you're planning to upload your video to YouTube.
Note that this will only change your final video's aspect ratio if you record your browser tab (not your entire desktop).
- Open up the extension's Recording Control Panel
- Click the gear icon to open up the advanced video options
- Click the dimensions next to Resize Tab to change them. Your browser tab will automatically resize to the selected dimensions.
- Click on the Control Panel or press ' esc ' to return to the Control Panel. You can also click outside of the panel to close it completely.
