Access Screencastify Edit
If you've just created a video in Screencastify Record, you can click on the "Open in Editor" button. That will automatically add your video into the Screencastify Editor timeline.
NOTE: If you are using interactive questions, views, or captions added on that video, you may see a pop up letting you know that they will will not transfer to the editor. The added features will still be on the original video you created in your My Recordings folder, however, we recommend editing your recording and exporting it to Drive before adding these features.
If you'd like to edit videos created outside of Screencastify Record or access the editor directly, check out the three other ways to access our browser-based editor.
Add videos to the timeline
Screencastify Edit makes it easy to merge multiple videos together (including videos made outside of Screencastify Record).
To add videos to the timeline, click on the blue Add Media plus button on the bottom right. From there, you can decide whether you'd like to add videos from your Google Drive or from your computer's hard drive.

NOTE: Your videos will appear in low resolution when editing to conserve bandwidth. They will be exported at full quality.
Using the cut tool
The cut tool makes it easy to slice longer clips into smaller ones. To use it, select a spot on a clip and then click the scissors tool. Now, you've created two clips out of just one 🎊

Adding text to your videos
Our text tool makes it easy to add text to your videos. Additionally, you can add title introductions to any video imported into the Screencastify Editor 😊 This is perfect if you want to give a quick title to your video, or create a hello for different parts of your video and more! Here's a quick walkthrough on how to:
Add text in the middle of your video:
Start by clicking the text tool on the bottom left. Then, type anything you'd like. The text will be saved when you click away from the text.
NOTE: As soon as you click on the text tool, you will be able to begin typing right away, you don't need to insert your cursor in the text box.
Changing timing of the text overlay:
If you’d like to extend or shorten the amount of time the viewer sees your text in your video you can click and drag either side of the pink text box in the Editor’s timeline. If you’d like to move
your text to appear at a different point in your video you can also drag the pink text box in the Editor timeline to the desired spot in your video.

NOTE: Please make sure that your text only contains English letters and characters. We cannot export non-English characters, images, or pieces of text that begin with an enter or blank line.
