Access Screencastify Edit
If you've just created a video in Screencastify Record, you can click on the "Open in Editor" button. That will automatically add your video into the Screencastify Editor timeline.
NOTE: If you are using interactive questions, views, or captions added on that video, you may see a pop up letting you know that they will will not transfer to the editor. The added features will still be on the original video you created in your My Recordings folder, however, we recommend editing your recording and exporting it to Drive before adding these features.

Add videos to the timeline
Screencastify Edit makes it easy to merge multiple videos together (including videos made outside of Screencastify Record).
To add videos to the timeline, click on the blue Add Media plus button on the bottom right. From there, you can decide whether you'd like to add videos from your Google Drive or from your computer's hard drive. Learn more about adding and removing videos from the timeline here.
NOTE: Your videos will appear in low resolution when editing to conserve bandwidth. They will be exported at full quality.
Using the cut tool
The cut tool makes it easy to slice longer clips into smaller ones. To use it, select a spot on a clip and then click the scissors tool. Now, you've created two clips out of just one ๐

Using the crop tool
The crop tool allows you to eliminate unwanted footage from clips. To use it, select the crop tool. Then, draw a rectangle around the portions of your screen you'd like to remain in the video. Everything else will be eliminated.

Using the zoom tool
The zoom tool allows you to focus viewer attention by zooming into something on the screen. Use the zoom tool by clicking the zoom icon on the bottom left. Then, manipulate the box to include only the portion of the screen you'd like to be zoomed into.

Using the Blur tool
Our Blur tool makes it easy to blur out parts of your videos. Start by clicking the blur tool on the bottom left. Then, outline the section of your screen you would like to blur. Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to pull the blurred area throughout your recording. The blur saves automatically.

Adding text to your videos
Our text tool makes it easy to add text to your videos. Additionally, you can add title introductions to any video imported into the Screencastify Editor ๐ This is perfect if you want to give a quick title to your video, or create a hello for different parts of your video and more! Here's a quick walkthrough on how to:
Add text in the middle of your video:
Start by clicking the text tool on the bottom left. Then, type anything you'd like. The text will be saved when you click away from the text.
NOTE: As soon as you click on the text tool, you will be able to begin typing right away, you don't need to insert your cursor in the text box.
Changing timing of the text overlay:
If youโd like to extend or shorten the amount of time the viewer sees your text in your video you can click and drag either side of the pink text box in the Editorโs timeline. If youโd like to move
your text to appear at a different point in your video you can also drag the pink text box in the Editor timeline to the desired spot in your video.

NOTE: Please make sure that your text only contains English letters and characters. We cannot export non-English characters, images, or pieces of text that begin with an enter or blank line.
Add a Title Page to your Video
To add a title or introduction page in the editor:
- If you're adding an introduction at the beginning of your video, begin by clicking on 'Add Media'
- Click the Title Icon
- You will see the title page pop up at the beginning of your video
- You can then add any text you would like to be included on your title page
- You can choose to use just a main title or have an additional subtitle underneath
- You can also easily change the background color of your title page

Adjusting your audio
The audio tool makes it easy to adjust the volume of your video's audio. This ability is perfect for turning up the audio at quieter parts of your video or turning down the audio if it gets too loud.
Adjust the audio for your whole video:
To adjust the audio for your whole video select the visual audio and turn the volume up or down. Make sure to select the 'Done' button after you've found the perfect volume!
Adjust the audio for segment of your video:
To adjust the audio for a segment of your video you will first need to use the cut tool to section off the part of your video you would like to adjust the volume for. You can then click on the segment you would like to adjust and turn the volume up or down for that specific section! Make sure to select the 'Done' button after you've found the perfect volume!
Saving your video
Once you've made all of your edits, it's time to save your masterpiece. To accomplish this, click the "Export" button on the top right and then decide whether you'd like to save your creation to Google Drive or export it as an mp4.
