Insert a video into a Google Doc

To insert a Screencastify video into a Google Doc: 

  1. Create your video
  2. Click "Copy Drive Link"
  3. Update Privacy Settings
  4. Paste into a Google Doc

Create a video

Choose the type of recording you would like to make:

Click "Copy Drive Link"

If your Screencastify account is connected to your Google Drive (highly recommended), you can grab a link to your recording and share it wherever you'd like from the Video Management Page. You can select the "Copy Drive Link" button on the lower right hand corner after clicking on the 'Google Drive' button. Then you will click on: copy_drive_link.jpeg

The 'Drive Link' to the recording will automatically be copied to your clipboard. From there you can paste wherever or to whomever you like!

TIP: If your Screencastify account is connected to your Google Drive, all of your recordings will automatically be saved in a folder called "Screencastify" in your Drive. 

If you make the entire "Screencastify" folder shareable, then anybody who has a link to that folder will be able to view all of your past and future recordings. 

Remember to update Privacy Settings:

When you press the "Copy Drive Link" button, the privacy setting for your video is automatically updated to Unlisted. If you prefer a different privacy setting, simply click:

Once clicked, you can view your personal domains' options:

Paste into a Google Doc

Finally, to paste your copied 'Drive Link' into your Google Doc, you can right-click and choose "Paste" on your doc

OR

press CTRL + V to paste the link for PC / Command + V for Macs.

Optional: If you'd like to replace the link with the title of the video instead, you can click on the link and choose "Replace URL with its title."

Anyone can now click on the link to access the video from your Google Drive (depending on the settings you have created for viewing your videos).
