How to Install Schoology

1. Navigate to https://app.schoology.com/apps/publisher and click Add App to open the Add Schoology App page.

   

2. Enter the following details. Note that fields with an asterisk are mandatory:

   • App Name: Screencastify LTI 1.3
   • Description: [Any]
   • Category: [Any]
   • Available for: Only people in my school
   • App Logo: Use https://cdn.castify.com/images/sc_logo150.jpg as logo

   

3. Configure app settings:

   • Type of App: LTI 1.3 App
   • Can be installed for: Check Course Materials Selection, Rich Text Editor, and External Tool under “Courses” section
   • LTI Advantage Extensions:
     • Deep Linking: Checked
     • Assignment and Grade Services: Checked
     • Names and Roles Services: Unchecked
4. Configure integration settings:

   • JWKS URL: https://www.googleapis.com/service_accounts/v1/jwk/jwt-signer@cfy-prod.iam.gserviceaccount.com

   • Domain/URL: https://app.screencastify.com/lti

   • Custom Parameters:

     schoology_username=$User.username
     schoology_assignment_title=$ResourceLink.title
     schoology_user_id=$User.id
     schoology_preferred_name=$com.schoology.User.preferredName
     user_id=$User.id
     

   • OIDC Login Init URL: https://api.lti.screencastify.com/lti/launch

   • Redirect URLs: https://api.lti.screencastify.com/lti/redirect-uri,<https://api.lti.screencastify.com/lti/oauth2response> (These are two URLs separated by comma without spaces)

   • This application meets the Schoology Terms of Use: Checked

   • Click Submit

5. Once the app is added, you will be automatically redirected to your App’s Profile page.
6. Click Options then API Info to retrieve your Client ID. Save this for later.
7. Click Install LTI 1.3 App and select Add to Organization.
8. Navigate to Organization Apps and do the following:
   • Look for Screencastify LTI 1.3
   • Click Install
   • Check All Courses and hit Submit
9. Using the Client ID we saved in Step 6:
   • Toggle the Schoology Gradebook Integration setting to ON
   • Input Client ID
   • Click Save & Enable

Some extra steps to make sure Gradebook sync works:

1. Select material to enable gradebook and click the cogwheel (settings).

2. Set the following fields:
   • Tool Provider: Screencastify LTI 1.3
   • Enable Grading: Checked
