If you're having trouble recording with Screencastify, here are a few things that we suggest trying:
- Ensure that you are using the most recent version by updating the extension. Here’s a short article and video that walks you through how to do that.
- Change your codec to VP9 (Copy and paste chrome-extension://mmeijimgabbpbgpdklnllpncmdofkcpn/app.html#/options?debug into a Chrome Tab) then follow the steps here:
(WARNING: Resetting the extension will restore all of the original settings. This will also remove any recordings that are only stored locally and not saved to Google Drive.)
- Try uninstalling the extension and then re-installing.
(WARNING: If you save your recordings locally and not to your Google Drive, they will be permanently deleted when you uninstall Screencastify. Export them first.) - Free up more recording resources by closing out unnecessary applications and tabs and lowering the default resolution of your recordings from 1080 to 720p.
