Layout of the Editor

Welcome to Screencastify Edit 👋 - Let’s take a quick tour to explore the Editor’s features.

Once you’ve accessed the editor, you’ll be greeted with the Screencastify Edit Timeline:

From here, you’ll be able to:

• Access the Hamburger Menu
• View your videos in the Preview Screen
• Add videos to the Timeline
• Make Edits in the Timeline
• Use the Toolbar
• Download your finished video

1. Hamburger Menu:

Once in the Editor, you can click on the three hamburger lines in the upper left corner of the timeline to access your Screencastify menu:  

Menu Element	Action
	Click this button to start a new project
	Click this button to see all of the Screencastify videos you have created
	Click this button to access your Screencastify Dashboard
	Click this button to get questions answered, either by looking in our Knowledge Base or submitting a new request or feature idea
	Click this button to sign out of your account

2. Preview Screen:

The preview screen in the Editor allows you to see how your videos will be viewed once you are ready to share with your students and peers! This preview is especially helpful when using the
  and tools in the Tool Bar: 

3. Add Videos And Clips:

To add videos to the timeline, click on the blue plus button on the bottom right . From there, you can decide whether you'd like to add videos from your Google Drive

or from your computer's hard drive .

This feature allows you to easily find your clips to bring into the timeline, merge videos, and quickly insert videos (including videos made outside of Screencastify Record).

4. Timeline:

To trim and rearrange all the videos you’ve added, the Editor provides this timeline:

Once you have imported a video into your timeline, you can select the video. Once selected, a thin yellow outline will appear around the clip, from there you can begin rearranging your clips order, cut clips, and zoom in and out of your clips.

5. Toolbar

To help enhance your video editing, the Screencastify Editor provides this toolbar:

The Toolbar allows you to:

1. Cut clips in the timeline
2. Crop your video on the preview screen
3. Zoom in on your video
4. Blur out sensitive information
5. Text add text for titles, labels, or transitions in your video presentation
6. Delete clips in the timeline
   
   

6. Download Your Finished Video

Once all your edits are done and you are ready to export your video, you can:

• save them directly to your computer by clicking on:

• or save them directly to your drive by choosing:

NOTE

• Videos exported as an mp4 will be saved in your computer's downloads folder
