If you are experiencing the inability to start any type of recording (Desktop, Tab, and Webcam) or your recording may start for a few moments and then crash, there could be a couple of causes! Are you able to begin a recording if you turn your Webcam and Microphone OFF? If so, that means the below solutions should work for you! to note, the solutions are also device specific so please take a look below for solutions geared towards:
Solutions for Mac Users
If you are attempting to create a DESKTOP recording but are able to successfully create a Tab and/or Webcam recording, please check out this article!
Please give Google Chrome access to your microphone and camera in System Preferences. To do so:
- Click System Preferences
- Click Security & Privacy
- Click the Privacy tab at the top
- Click Microphone on the left side
- Check the box next to Google Chrome
- Click "Quit & Reopen"
- Repeat these steps, but choose Camera in step 4
Solutions for PC Users
Please give Google Chrome access to your microphone and camera in your device settings. To do so, please follow the steps below:
Windows 10
- Click the Windows Start button
- Click Settings
- Click Privacy
- Click Microphone
- Ensure that Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is turned On
- Restart Chrome and request permission by trying to record
- Repeat these steps, but choose Camera in step 4
Windows 11
- Click the Windows Start button
- Click Settings
- Click Privacy & Security
- Click Microphone
- Ensure that Let desktop apps access your microphone is turned On
- Restart Chrome and request permission by trying to record
- Repeat these steps, but choose Camera in step 4
